Life Changing Win For Mater Winner

When Alex received the call telling him he had won his choice of Ford Mustang V8 Fastback, or HSV Clubsport R8, he couldn’t believe it. He had to wake his son Cody and put the phone on loud speaker just to make sure it was all real.

As for his choice, it was always going to be the pony.

“You’ve got to be joking” was Alex’s first response. “I reckon I’ll be one of the only people with a new Mustang in the whole of WA!”

When we met the pair at the handover a couple of weeks later, he gave us some insight into what happened at the other end of the phone.

“We were cheering that loud, I reckon the high school across the road heard us,” Alex said. “I then went and told my neighbour who is right into cars and does them up, he was pretty excited too. He’s even invited me along to his Ford car club since to show off the new Mustang.”

It had been a long 21 years since Alex had seen his sister who lives in Queensland, when he told her the news she was so excited for him. The win also gave them the opportunity to fly over to Brisbane to collect their prize.

“Alex has been through some tough times financially and health wise. This win couldn’t have come at a better time,” his sister said at the handover.

Alex and Cody were absolutely over the moon with excitement about picking up their brand new Ford Mustang V8 Fastback. As they pulled back the cover, their eyes lit up—this was their car.

“It’s like a dream come true”, Alex said.

“We’ve never had a brand new car before; we’ve only ever had second hand ones,” Cody explained.

Alex followed the release of the new Ford Mustangs, and the up-to two year waiting list. Their choice to drive the pony back to WA together made the prize even more exciting. When we asked the pair what the best thing about their new Mustang was, their response was simple, “It’s a Ford, it’s our first new car, and we are going to enjoy it.”

Alex and Cody are going to take their time enjoying their new Mustang while driving it back to WA, visiting an old friend in Melbourne along the way who is recovering from a stroke.

“He will love the surprise,” Alex said. “He doesn’t have a clue we are coming”.
