The legendary 70-series LandCruiser, worth $89,495, is made all the more legendary by way of a few modifications—just over $118k worth—coupled with an Infinity 15 Off Road Hybrid Caravan from JAWA Off Road Campers, and $120,000 worth of cashable gold bullion. At $406,830, I’m not kidding when I say this is Mater Cars for Cancer’s biggest lottery yet, and you can win it all.
Everybody loves a good adventure story, whether it’s the unrealistic hijinks of James Bond or Indiana Jones, or the gritty realism of The Leyland Brothers or Alby Mangels but imagine writing the story yourself. You could do just that behind the wheel of Toyota’s incomparable 70-series LandCruiser V8 Diesel, but only if you ordered one two years ago. Unless you’ve got a ticket.
Production is scheduled to wind down in September and the final units projected to hit Aussie roads in early 2025, but that’s only for people who are already on the waiting list, which was unofficially closed off in 2022. Toyota have now officially suspended orders for the venerable V8 Diesel variant that has powered over 171,000 LandCruiser 70-series since its introduction in 2007, and while the model will continue, it will be in four-cylinder form only. Fortunately, Mater Cars for Cancer got their order in early, and their foresight could be your only ‘in’, just ensure you’ve got a ticket.
The 70-series is one of the automotive industry's truly great machines, but as tough as they are out of the box, they could always be made better. Mater Cars for Cancer have dialled up a custom rig that sports over $118,000 worth of modifications, and that’s not including the LandCruiser’s $89,495 purchase price. You read that right.
Starting with a 70-series LandCruiser GXL dual cab in classic Sandy Taupe, Rambler Vehicles have added a colour-coded Midi Body canopy from Spinifex Manufacturing. From there, nary a part of the ‘Cruiser is untouched, with a full TJM front fit out, clutch upgrade, Alpine stereo, and suspension improvements including rear coil conversion, airbags and four-inch lift. Most obvious are the tough ROH Assault alloy wheels, of which there are six. Count ‘em! Six! Not even Russell Coight could get this thing stuck! Actually, he probably could, but forget him and put yourself in the spotlight for adventure—or misadventure—by grabbing yourself a ticket and being the lucky prize winner.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Mater Cars for Cancer lottery without something cool to tow behind your attention-grabbing rig. For lottery No. 118, JAWA Off Road Campers have pulled together something equally special. They’ve taken their Infinity 15 Hybrid Caravan, which is a fully capable off-road abode with standard features like independent suspension, air conditioning, alfresco kitchen and sleeping for four, then added a few extras like a Caravan Essentials Starter Kit, Ozi Block n Chock Ultimate levelling kit and a full Meanderwild styling package, itself worth $4257.
With a rig like this, you’re going to be the centre of attention no matter where you rock up and while that’s cool, the real point is that you’re going to be able to rock up nearly anywhere in this country, the centre of your own adventure. So, turn off the TV, forget about the Bonds and the Coights, and grab a ticket today; it’s early days yet, but every recent Mater Cars for Cancer lottery draw has sold out early, and with a $406,830 prize like this, including $120k cashable gold bullion, you can be sure draw 118 will too.
