Roush Performance is an American company which engineers and manufactures high performance automotive components for street and competitive racing applications. It produces complete vehicles, aftermarket performance parts and a whole host of other performance related components.

The company’s namesake is automotive mogul Jack Roush, who founded it in 1995 and still owns and operates it.

Roush Performance produces aftermarket performance parts for Ford cars and trucks, mainly the Ford Mustang and Ford Focus. These special model vehicles are sold to the public through select Ford dealerships.

What is the Roush Mustang?

Roush Performance has been modifying factory-born Ford Mustangs since 1995 on a limited-run basis and made several limited-edition models.

While the company initially focused on developing street-legal high performance aftermarket engines, parts and vehicles, it eventually began to manufacture complete vehicle packages, including numerous Mustang variants.

Roush Mustangs over the years

Roush Performance produced three generations of Mustangs from 1997 until 2009. Each generation consisted of three packages given the name Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3. Each stage provided progressively more in the way of features and options.

In 2010, Roush Performance unveiled a completely revamped three-stage Mustang lineup, with the the Roush 540 RH Mustang as its shining star. The 540 RH boasted 540 hp and could cover a quarter mile (402m) in less than 12 seconds. According to Jack Roush, the 540 RH was designed for the buyer who wanted a high-horsepower ride that also offered maximum flexibility for customisation.
