Yeah yeah, the Mustang is coming to Australia and everyone’s excited. But unexpectedly, the imminent arrival of the pony has skyrocketed sales of the blue oval’s local XR8.
Ford has admitted it was caught off guard by the level of interest and blistering sales that the announcement of the Mustang has had on its marquee model, the XR8 FG X.
According to this article on motoring.com.au, Ford was set to produce just 1,200 units of the FG X. Ford has been somewhat caught short, declaring in March they would double the level of production of the last ever Falcon XR8 to meet demand.
Could this be a sign of Ford fanatics looking to bag a future classic?
