About the Bathurst 12 hour

Around the world, this race is recognised as one of the most significant races for GT vehicles. The race is for GT3, GT4 and invited production-based or specialised endurance vehicles.

Held at the legendary Mount Panorama in Bathurst, you could find yourself trackside from the 2 to 4 of February 2018. Attended by over 40,000 spectators this year, this is one race you’ll want to watch trackside.

Classes

There are four classes that contest the highly anticipated LIQUI-MOLY Bathurst 12 hour.

Class A – GT3

This class is for vehicles complying with GT3 regulations.

You’ll typically see some of the following brands competing in this category: Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz and Nissan.

Class A is divided into the following sub-sections:

Pro – all professional drivers

Pro/AM – maximum of two professional/seeded drivers

AM – maximum of one professional/seeded driver

Class B – GT3 Cup Cars

This is open to drivers of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars.

Class C – GT4

Globally, Class C is considered the ‘boom’ category, and its popularity continues to grow in Australia with major brands keen to join the race. It’s the ‘little brother’ version of the GT3 category and is for production-based GT vehicles.

The stand-alone GT4 class race is one you don’t want to miss! It’s said to be one of the most hotly contested ‘races within a race’ in next year’s Bathurst 12 hours.

Class I – Invited cars

Here you’ll see cars such as MARC Cars Australia Ford Focus / Mazda 3 endurance racers and production-based vehicles that have been invited by organisers to race in the competition.
